Hackers can Imitate Someone's email address,

Pretend to be the owner of that email, and send messages to the victim's employees or co-workers. Are you safe from this kind of attack?

One of the first things hackers try is to see if they can spoof the email address of a CEO, HR manager, Finance, or something of the sort. If they succeed then they can cut through your network like a hot knife through butter.

Attackers can launch a spear-phishing attack (targeted attack) on your organization, and that is a very hard thing to defend against unless your users are well-trained to detect such actions.

In these emails, the attackers can include all kinds of content that will hide the piece of software they are trying to install on any machine connected to your network. Believe it or not, printers and smart thermostats can get infected with a virus just as well as any other computer. All it takes is for one employee to click one link or document that they should not have!

Typically, your employees would receive an email that appears to be from their CEO that requests they open a document or submit the information… Kind of difficult to say no to that, right? Or it can appear to be coming from HR to write a review or click a link… The point is to get one of your employees to take action, and then the attacker literally OWNS your network.

Would you like to know if hackers can spoof your domain? Or how ready are your employees to detect fraudulent emails? Please feel free to reach out and we will be happy to guide you through the process.

Remember, the majority of successful cyber attacks start with a successful Phishing email! Train your employees well, avoid the consequences.
